The richness of the Spanish musical heritage, both in its historical and traditional aspects, integrates transversally the contents and competences that are developed in the Curricula, through various subjects of the Degrees of Teaching. This chapter reviews the presence of these issues in public universities, in order to know the state of the subject in question. On the other hand, categories
are enunciated within the broad field of musical heritage. The main contributions of research on them are reviewed, and lines of action (conceptual and methodological) are proposed to contribute to the improvement in the training of teachers in this area.
