Los menores de origen inmigrante en la intermediación lingüística: visibilización de un fenómeno social

El recurso a menores bilingües para realizar tareas de intermediación lingüística (ILM) entre sus familiares y los distintos servicios públicos (escuelas, centros de salud, administración pública, etc.) constituye un fenómeno recurrente dentro de los procesos migratorios. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es describir el efecto que dichas experiencias ejercen en la construcción de la narrativa personal de los menores. Para alcanzar dicho objetivo se han realizado 20 entrevistas a jóvenes de entre 17 y 29 años, pertenecientes a colectivos lingüísticos diferentes, que han realizado en su pasado tareas de ILM. A través de una metodología cualitativa y un análisis temático, los resultados obtenidos permiten concluir que la ILM es un fenómeno recurrente en el contexto catalán, que tiene un impacto evidente en las personas que la realizan y en las relaciones que establecen con su entorno. La ILM empieza espontáneamente en el entorno más íntimo y familiar, hasta alcanzar ámbitos de mayor especialización y complejidad, como son los propios de los servicios públicos.
