This article aims to explore how Feria, by Ana Iris Simón, as a literary political project, is based on strategies linked to the metamodern structure of feeling. Specifically, this research explores two aspects: the use of photographs and illustrations within the novel and the use of digital space by the author to expand the narrative universe. Both resources –the images and the digital epitexts– invoke the extratextual reality, which makes the novel partake in contemporary “reality hunger”. Simón's political proposal is partly articulated through the sensations of sincerity and authenticity that these appeals to the real produce. Both the images and the digital space bring us closer to the protagonist’s and her family’s intimacy and aim to show the depth of her feelings and convictions. We will conclude this text by affirming that Feria participates in many of the rhetorical strategies typical of metamodern literature. However, its success alerts us to the dangers of the new regime of truth associated with this moment in cultural history. In this case, the new idea of truth, more flexible and subjective, is placed at the service of a neoconservative political project.
