Abstract
This article examines the comic series Tamba, created in the late 1980s by Júlio Emílio Braz and Mozart Couto, within the framework of the Belgian agency Commu and the international circulation of Brazilian comics. Through a critical approach, it explores indigenous representations, narrative and anachronisms that shape the work, originally aimed at a European youth audience. The study highlights how the series blends Amazonian and Minas Gerais folklore with colonial stereotypes and humorous elements, thus constructing an exoticized image of Brazil for foreign readers. At the same time, it argues that indigeneity functions as the narrative axis, providing depth and meaning to a story that moves between exotic mediation and cultural reinscription.
