Author Guidelines

GENERAL GUIDELINES

File format: Send your paper in Microsoft Word format. No other format will be accepted.

Length:

*Critical Articles: ca. 6000-7000 words, including references and footnotes.

*Creative writing: ca. 2500-3000 words.

*Book reviews: ca. 1000–1500 words.

Images: you will have to submit your images as separate attachments in the best quality possible (.png / .jpg). As far as film/TV stills and comic panels are concerned, the editorial board believes it is not necessary to obtain permission to reproduce them as long as they are used strictly for academic criticism/analysis/review purposes; in any case, the author will be responsible of copyright violations. We also invite you to reduce the number of images to those necessary to get your analysis across and, in general, avoid inserting more than 5 (unless reasonably justified). Please, make sure to caption each image with its complete reference.

The publication guidelines are based on MLA Handbook (9thed. 2021)[1].

Papers not conforming to these guidelines will be returned to the authors for revision. Please, read the guidelines carefully and make sure your paper is anonymized (do not put your name and affiliation or bio in the Word document).

When you upload your paper to the OJS platform, be prepared to introduce your name, affiliation, short bio (max. 110 words, email contact, and an abstract (approx. 200 words/5-10 keywords) as part of the process. Please do not write any personal information in the Word document.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The file format is Word
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The Word document is anonymous (your name/affiliation/ biography do not appear).
  • It has been indicated if the author has received financial support to carry out the paper This information should be added at the time of submission of the paper and to what extent (data collection, analysis of results, drafting the text of the article...)
  • All images, graphics or figures included are creations of the author, or are correctly referenced. Copyright infringement is the responsibility of the author
  • The text follows the publication guidelines indicated in the Editorial Policies section.
